Christening Photography in Psychiko: Agios Dimitrios Church & Gazarte

Some celebrations feel like stepping into a fairytale.Christening photography in Psychiko, Athens, is full of contrasts, and this day was a perfect example. The ceremony took place at Agios Dimitrios Church, in a calm and traditional setting. Afterwards, the celebration moved to Gazarte, where soap bubbles took over.

A Greek Orthodox baptism at Agios Dimitrios Church

In front of the stone domed church stood a silver font decorated with white flowers and baby’s breath. Then the priest began the baptism, while family and children gathered around. After the ceremony, a man applauded and the parents wrapped their baby in a white towel. Even a small detail made me smile: a gold cross resting on vintage train coins in a blue velvet case.

A bubble show by La Petite Marguerite at Gazarte

Then the magic began. At Gazarte, La Petite Marguerite filled the air with giant soap bubbles. Children laughed, and a boy in swimming goggles and a shower cap blew bubbles of his own. Even a couple embraced inside a huge bubble. For a few minutes, everyone became a child again.
