Small moments, a big day, and a little girl at the centre of it all.
Christening photography in Ekali, Athens, often begins at home. Here, the day started with a baby girl in a floral crown and a pink christening dress, surrounded by her family as they got ready. Then everyone made their way to the Agia Filothei Monastery for the baptism.
At the stone church with its arched walkways, the family gathered around the font. First, the parents held their baby girl towards the altar. Then the priest baptised her, while the children watched closely and someone gently fanned the baby. As always, I stayed quietly in the background, so the family could simply enjoy the ceremony.
Afterwards, the details completed the story: a gold cross in its gift box, and a table with pink sweets, wrapped biscuits and balloons against a hand-drawn chalkboard wall. There were quiet moments too, such as a father lifting his baby in a white bonnet, and the little girl asleep in her pram.
Planning a christening in Athens or Attica? I photograph baptisms in churches and venues around Athens, as well as on the islands. Get in touch to check availability, or see more christening photography, like this christening at Palaiopanagia in Kantza.
