Christening Photography in Tinos: Timios Stavros Church, Kionia & Volax

A christening in Tinos is a family celebration set against the Aegean. For this baptism, relatives and friends gathered at Timios Stavros Church near Kionia, where the Greek Orthodox ceremony unfolded by the sea with warmth, tenderness and a lot of real emotion.

The baptism by the sea

From the blessing to the anointing and the moment the baby was immersed in the font, I photographed the ceremony quietly and without interrupting it, so the family could simply be present. The small moments are what I look for: a tiny hand holding an adult’s, a baby resting on a shoulder, a priest placing the cross.

Family portraits in Volax

After the ceremony we continued to Volax, one of the most photogenic villages on the island, where giant granite boulders and whitewashed corners make a natural backdrop. There were no stiff poses: a little girl laughing with a wooden toy duck, two siblings sharing a quiet moment on the stone steps, and the whole family together in the soft evening light.

Planning a christening in Tinos or the Cyclades? I photograph baptisms in village churches and on the islands, as well as in Athens. Get in touch to check availability, or see more christening photography.
